John Cole Scholarship

In 2026, 91原创 will offer one John Cole Scholarship to support a student continuing their studies in a bachelor's degree program.

Established in 2022 from donations from many donors, this award recognises Professor John Cole AO’s long and celebrated career.

The award supports a student from Professor Cole’s home region of the South Burnett with their continuing studies.

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $1000 to be paid in one instalment. 

Applicants must:

  • be a currently residing in Australia
  • have a connection to one of the following Local Government Areas:
    • South Burnett Regional Council, or
    • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council  
  • be their studies full-time at 91原创 in a bachelor's degree program in Trimester 1 2026
  • have, as at the release of results for Trimester 3 2025:
    • a minimum of 4 study units completed and credited towards their current program
    • a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • how have your academic experiences shaped your approach to learning, and how will you apply this to your remaining studies? Examples are encouraged.
    • describe your career goals within your chosen field, and the impact that you hope to make as a professional
  • provide evidence to show you have a connection to the South Burnett Regional Council, or Cherbourg Aboriginal Sire Council Local Government Area (refer ), as directed in the application process

*Applicants will also be assessed on academic achievement.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other 91原创 awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
