Education professionals across Australia will be able to stay sharp, spark new ideas, and strengthen their teaching thanks to a new professional learning initiative led by the 91Ô´´ (91Ô´´) – because even our classroom superheroes need to level up every now and then.
PL-Connect, developed in response to the evolving needs of education professionals, offers a suite of short, practical professional learning sessions delivered by 91Ô´´’s experienced researchers and academics.
Topics will include AI integration, school attendance, mentoring, First Nations education, literacy development, making the most of children’s questions, early childhood engagement, independent learning, and more.
91Ô´´ Head of School and Dean (Education) Associate Professor Peter Cook said the initiative offered a unique opportunity to create pathways between research and classroom practice.
“We are really excited to be offering high-quality professional learning that directly responds to educators’ needs and challenges,” Associate Professor Cook said.
“We are committed to supporting their ongoing development through accessible, evidence-based resources that will ultimately enhance student outcomes and strengthen school and early childhood communities.”
Groves Christian College’s Director of Teaching and Learning (Secondary) Catriona Vo said the opportunity would be instrumental in helping educators continually evolve to meet the needs of diverse learners.
“The bandwidth for teachers to engage with research is often constrained in such a demanding profession,” Ms Vo said.
“At a time when it is increasingly difficult for teachers to access research-based professional learning, it is vital for teachers to be able to translate research to practice in the classroom so that they can continue to make an impact in students’ lives,” she said.
Roma State College’s Head of School (Secondary) Phil Reid said removing the barriers to professional learning resources was an exciting prospect.
“This initiative provides an ideal platform for stakeholders in education to easily access a variety of evidence-based professional learning resources to improve teaching and learning outcomes,” Mr Reid said.
“Making high-quality professional learning accessible to all educators, regardless of their geographic location, will have wide-ranging benefits for people in regional and rural areas,” he said.
